I love it. Love the beautiful design on the top and the practicality of it. I love how I can turn the insert around when I'm done eating and it takes up less space. It's enough for a variety lunch. Today for example I packed two sandwiches, boiled eggs, a lot of veggies and it was more than enough. Easy to clean, dries fast, the price is excellent.
My husband picked out this bento box on a recent trip to Kyoto. The large size accommodates a wide variety of food for his 11.5 hour shifts at work. He likes how it becomes more compact once emptied and uses this for his lunch on a regular basis. A great souvenir from our trip to Japan!
I like the design of this bento. I find the color and pattern relaxing to look at.
What you see in the photo is exactly what you get. It's a big bento, but I haven't found the size to be inconvenient. Being able to pack it down smaller is very convenient. TBH, I forgot that you were supposed to flip the first tier, so I just took it out entirely. Still works fine as long as you use the band. I wouldn't do that for a liquidy lunch, though.
I don't bring soups or sauces in it, so I can't comment on the leak proofing. Hand washing is simple. Nooks and crannies aren't an issue to clean, but I don't know how it would turn out if you brought mochi or something.
I find it a little hard to open compared to the typical 2 tier bento. The bottom of the 1st compartment will probably touch whatever you packed in the 2nd one, so be mindful of that.
