Processing & Dispatch Times
Orders are typically prepared within 24–48 business hours after payment (excluding weekends and Japanese public holidays).
Once your parcel leaves our facility, you will receive a shipment confirmation email with your tracking number.
Shipping Methods
We ship with DHL, FedEx, or Japan Post, depending on the option you select at checkout (standard or express). Delivery times vary by destination and method.
Note: Japan Post shipments are handed off to your national postal service and typically arrive in 10–30 business days. Transit times are estimates and not guaranteed.
Shipping Rates
Shipping fees are calculated automatically at checkout based on destination, weight, and method. All costs are clearly displayed before payment.
U.S. orders $100+ ship with duties included. Orders under $100 do not include import duties.
Orders to the E.U. €150 or less include VAT (displayed separately at checkout).
Address Changes & Order Cancellation
To modify your address or cancel an order, email us as soon as possible at contact@bentoandco.com with your order number. Once a parcel has shipped, changes are no longer possible (address updates must be handled directly with the carrier and may incur fees).
Delivery Issues
If your parcel arrives damaged, is significantly delayed, or appears lost, please email contact@bentoandco.com with your order number and, if applicable, photos of the packaging/product. We’ll work with you to find the best solution.
Undeliverable or Unclaimed Parcels
If a parcel is returned due to an incorrect/incomplete address, missed pickup, or recipient refusal, re-shipping fees are the customer’s responsibility. In some cases carriers may dispose of parcels that cannot be delivered; refunds are not possible in those cases.
Taxes & Customs Fees
As our products ship from Japan, orders may be subject to taxes and customs fees depending on the delivery country and local regulations.
-
United States: For orders shipped to the United States, the applicable import method depends on the total value of goods in the order (excluding shipping fees):
-
Orders with a merchandise value below $100 USD are shipped Delivered Duty Unpaid (DDU). Import duties and taxes, if applicable, are the responsibility of the customer and are collected by the shipping carrier.
-
Orders with a merchandise value of $100 USD or more are shipped Delivered Duty Paid (DDP). Import duties and taxes are included in the price paid at checkout, and no additional fees are due upon delivery.
-
Bento&co is not responsible for duties or taxes assessed on DDU shipments.
- Australia: Orders below AUD $1,000 are regarded as “low value imports.” As of 01 July 2018, customs duties may apply to goods imported from overseas by consumers in Australia. For more information, please visit the Australian customs website.
- Canada: Orders above CAD $20 may require payment of applicable duties and GST. These fees are assessed by Canadian customs and billed by the carrier. For more information, please visit the Canadian customs website.
-
European Union (EU): Bento&co is registered in the Import One-Stop Shop (IOSS). VAT is included in product pricing and paid directly to the authorities by Bento&co.
- Orders with a total value less than €150 (excluding shipping fees) have duties added at checkout. You will not have additional costs to pay upon delivery. If you still receive a payment request from a carrier, contact us at contact@bentoandco.com.
- Please note: IOSS is for purchases by individuals only. Do not include a company name in your delivery or billing address, or the package will be treated as a commercial purchase and customs duties will apply.
- Orders with a total value of €150 or more (excluding shipping fees) will incur customs duties. Customers are responsible for paying these duties to the shipping carrier. These fees are invoiced on delivery or shortly after and are compulsory.
