Designed by the Okayama-based creative duo Cochae, this 70cm wrapping cloth brings together traditional mountain folk tales, mythical creatures, and legendary heroes in a lively, contemporary style.
Set against a vibrant green background, the design gathers scenes inspired by mountain legends, animals, and yōkai (Japanese spirits). Each motif tells a different story — from clever tricksters and brave heroes to moral tales of perseverance and kindness — all rooted in Japan’s oral storytelling traditions. Depending on how you wrap it, different characters and scenes appear, making every use feel unique and interactive.
Made from lightweight 100% organic cotton, this furoshiki is ideal for wrapping gift boxes, bottles, or bento boxes, and can also be tied into a small reusable bag. The packaging combines Japanese and English text and includes explanations of the featured folk tales and characters, blending traditional folk art influences with a modern graphic approach.
