This beautiful Imari-yaki bowl from the Edo Era is in the Nishiki, or “brocade”-style of porcelain, characterized by the use of many colors of paint over the white glaze. Features breathtaking hand-painted designs in red, green, yellow, black and gold, in addition to the classic blue.

In the center of the bowl in cobalt blue is an idyllic mountain scene. Two Shishi (Japanese lions) watch protectively from the sides of the bowl. These mythical creatures are seen most often at the entrance of temples and possess magical powers that repel evil

This bowl is perfect as a celebratory present or as a good-luck gift for you and your family that can be passed down as an heirloom.
