Lightweight, quick to heat, and beautifully hammered, this 16cm Yukihira Nabe is a staple in Japanese kitchens for a reason. Ideal for boiling, simmering, or making soup stock, it's the kind of everyday pot you'll reach for again and again.

Made in Japan.

Matching lid available here.

Details & Care
  • Capacity: 1.2 liters (about 5 cups, ideal for 1-2 portions of soup)
  • Dimensions: 16 cm (6.29") diameter
  • Materials: 18-0 stainless steel with natural beech wood handle
  • Lid is sold separately.
  • Works on gas, halogen, electric, radiant and induction (200V compatible) stoves!

Care Instructions:

  • Hand wash with a soft sponge and mild soap.
  • Dishwasher is not recommended (harsh detergents could dull the hammered shine, and wood handle may weather).
  • If slight discoloration occurs inside from starches or heat, a quick trick: boil a bit of water with lemon slices or a teaspoon of citric acid, let cool, then wash – it will restore the shine.
  • Dry well before storing.

Usage Tips:

  • Use medium heat; the pot heats very quickly due to the thin stainless walls.
  • Avoid using on maximum flame to prevent contents from boiling over suddenly (especially when cooking starchy foods).
  • Stir occasionally and enjoy the quick responsiveness of this pot. With its fast heating and cooling, you won’t burn sauces easily – one reason it’s beloved in Japanese kitchens.
Our Favorite Things
  • Japanese kitchen essential: The Yukihira Nabe is the everyday pot in Japan – a lightweight saucepan you’ll reach for morning to night. Its classic hammered texture isn’t just for looks; those dimpled sides increase surface area for faster, even heating. It boils water or dashi in a flash and cools quickly when removed from heat, giving you great control.
  • Easy pouring on both sides: Thoughtful design includes dual spouts (left and right), so you can neatly pour soup or sauce without spills whether you’re left- or right-handed. This makes transferring miso soup, pouring hot broth, or draining with the lid slightly ajar super convenient.
  • Cool-touch wooden handle: The handle is crafted from natural beech wood, offering a comfortable grip and staying cool during cooking. No need for mitts when grabbing your pot off the stove – the wood insulates heat effectively.
  • Volume markings inside: Subtle measurement lines on the interior (in mL) help you measure water or stock without a separate measuring cup. Great for preparing rice, instant noodles, or precise soup portions.
  • Versatile and induction-ready: This 16 cm yukihira is induction compatible as well as safe for gas, electric, and halogen stoves. It’s perfectly sized for cooking 1–2 portions of soup, boiling eggs, heating milk, or any small batch cooking. You’ll soon consider it an indispensable Japanese cooking tool in your kitchen.
