A masterpiece of one of our favorite Japanese craftsmen Mr. Hasehira, the Miyama Bento Box 295 | Joumoku Tochi showcases the natural beauty of Tochi (Japanese Horse Chestnut).

Tochi is rare and often used in traditional Japanese furniture. It's naturally dried over 5 years, and preserved in a rustic condition to showcase the wood's unique characteristics.

This bento also features joumokume, a top class wood grain that is highly prized in Japan. Only trees that have endured and overcome drastic environmental changes or illnesses develop the distinctive, personality rich wood pattern of joumokume.

The Story

One day, a Miyama woodworker named Mr. Hasehira saw Bento&co featured on national TV, and was inspired to make bento boxes of his own! When we saw his results, we were thrilled. Mr. Hasehira continues to hand make these limited edition bento boxes, and we are honored to be able to sell them on our shop exclusively.
