In Japan, Kit Kats are a national obsession! While most people are familiar with the standard milk chocolate flavor, over 300 limited edition and seasonal flavors have been produced in Japan since 2000. Also, due to their name's similarity with the Japanese phrase
(きっと勝つ), meaning 'likely victory', Kit Kats are often given by parents to children to wish them luck before taking school exams.
Sakura Mochi Kit Kats are a limited edition flavor released this spring. This flavor loosely emulates the taste of the traditional sakuramochi confection, which is made of pink mochi rice cake filled with sweet anko red beans and covered with a pickled leaf from a sakura (cherry blossom) tree. They are sweet, crunchy and completely irresistible.
