Small, delicate and beautiful - this box is really a delight to see and hold. This two layered box is perfect for holding small side dishes during a nice meal, be it ginger slices or olives. It is also great as a decorative accessory for storing finer things, such as jewelry or small gifts.
With the Mini Bento Box | Daruma Red, you get the chance to truly enjoy a piece of Japanese tradition and art. Red Darumas (small traditional good luck symbols) dance across the refined white background, enabling this box to transcend the role of a simple bento, and open up infinite possibilities.
Daruma are small round Japanese wooden dolls. They are usually red and generally emulated a bearded man with stern eyes, as they are modeled after the founder of Zen Buddhism, Bodhidharma. The dolls are sometimes purchased with blank eyes, as the user is to wish for something, color in one eye, and then color in the second eye once the wish comes true. Thus, daruma are seen as a symbol of good luck, and are often gifted to students before exams.
This bento has beautiful square sides that provide a unique aesthetic, and the two tiers enable you to store or display your favorite small items. With a capacity of 160 ml we wouldn't recommend this for a full meal, rather matching sides.
