Japan is famous for its amazing seasons. Beautiful winters, flower-filled springs, sweltering hot summers and colorful autumns make every season worth looking forward to. But did you know that we actually have 24 different seasons here in Japan? Sekkis, based on the movement of the sun, is the Japanese name of these mini seasons. Each season celebrates something unique that is happening at a specific point in the year, giving reason to pause and reflect on the beauty of passing time.
With the 24 Seasons Bento Box series, we want to celebrate each and every one of these seasons with its own box. Each box showcases stunning artwork capturing the signature characteristics of each season.
This Bento celebrates the 5th season, Seimei 清明. This season starts on April 5 and focuses on the clear and bright environment that spring brings. The lid captures spring in full bloom with bright colors and happy birds.
To create the beautiful lid, a patterned textile is applied directly to the lid using a special technique, resulting in a beautiful artful depiction. The box itself features two layers: one upper tier with a larger capacity and a smaller, lower tier. Each compartment comes with its own lid to keep foods fresh. A matching elastic bento band is also included.
This lunch box allows you to enjoy both your meal and the beauty of Japanese seasons.
