The lower compartment has its own leak-resistant flexible lid, for putting in other foods.
A typical onigiri lunch in Japan might have onigiri rice balls filled with pickled plums, bonito flakes and grilled salmon, with some stewed vegetables, grilled fish and tamagoyaki (a Japanese omelette) in the bottom compartment.
The lid and the lower compartment are a sleek, smooth black, with just a hint of red accenting the rim of the lower lid. A little white dancing bunny rabbit surrounded by white and pink flowers adorns the lid. So kawaii, yet so discreet too - very Japanese! Completing the design is the kata or chop of the artist in matte gold.
A black elastic bento band is included, to keep the box securely closed.
Notice that the chopsticks are unfortunately not available any more. We have lots of cool traditional equivalents here!
