Totoro&co Sandwich Bento

I am back from Japan!! I miss bento-ing so much :P

Am now back blogging for Bento&co again! I have so many bento ideas to share with you.

As a start… a Totoro&co bento for the lovely Bento&co Blog readers :D

It has been some time since I made a Totoro character bento!

Totoro and the other characters of the Japanese animation film, My Neighbour Totoro are very popular with the Japanese. There is even a museum in Japan, called Studio Ghibli that is dedicated to this film. I hope to visit Studio Ghibli in my next Japan trip!

Over here in this bento, I combined one of my favourite characters together with one of my favourite breakfast – the egg mayonnaise sandwich. It is comfort food for me, the combination of the creamy egg mixture with soft white bread is just amazing!

I then incorporated the Totoro characters and added some leaf cut outs. Here were the ingredients:

  • Totoro characters (mashed potatoes, food coloring gel, seaweed, some salt to flavour)

  • Leaf pattern (thin egg sheet with some green food coloring)

This egg sandwich bento was paired with fruits and vegetables to complete the meal, which included green grapes, cherry tomatoes and lettuce.

The bento creation was packed in a sandwich bento box. I love such sandwich boxes which are collapsible after use, very very convenient! Here a new sandwich box at Bento&co, Black + Blum Sandwich Box.

Oh by the way, I was in Kyoto at Bento&co store during my trip~ will be sharing with you about the lovely visit very soon!

Shirley - Bento specialist, Singapore

Hello :) I am Shirley, a bento artist/chef and blogger. I started making bento back in 2011 as getting lunch was very inconvenient at work, and in 2012 my blog, Little Miss Onigiri was born. Bento making is a passion that I am fond of, and excited about. My head is often bursting with ideas on what to make. Even when I visit the supermarkets, I often imagine what I can make out of an ingredient or food product. Character bentos are my forte, but I also enjoy making usual bento lunches, bread, sweets and other decorative food items. If you like kawaii and and fun creations, I am sure you will enjoy my blog postings. I will continue to do my best and thanks for staying with me.
