Matryoshka Doll Bento

This bento creation has to be one of my favorites. I must credit this bento idea to a pinterest bento that I saw, I followed the idea of using colored quail eggs for the body and cheese for the face/hair, but decorated the Matryoshka doll in my own way!

I also added cheeks to the doll's faces. The dolls were really tiny in size but fun to make! :D

I hope you will enjoy this bento very much.

Just a point! I would recommend leaving the cheese parts till the very end. If you cut them too earlier in the process, and happened to stay in an all-year-summer-weather place like I do, the cheese parts will start melting.

Alternatively, you could consider egg sheets for the face/hair if cheese is not preferred.

The ingredients for the Matryoshka dolls were

  • body (colored quail egg)
  • decoration for body (thin egg sheet)
  • face (cheese)
  • hair (cheddar cheese)
  • features (seaweed for the eyes and edible marker pen for the mouth)
  • cheeks (pink food gel)
  • flower hair accessory (sugar decoration)

This bento was meant for breakfast, so the Matryoshka dolls were resting on a sandwich. In the other box, it was a small salad side that consisted of lettuce, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, edamame, french beans, corn, mandarin oranges.

Shirley - Bento specialist, Singapore

Hello :) I am Shirley, a bento artist/chef and blogger. I started making bento back in 2011 as getting lunch was very inconvenient at work, and in 2012 my blog, Little Miss Bento was born. Bento making is a passion that I am fond of, and excited about. My head is often bursting with ideas on what to make. Even when I visit the supermarkets, I often imagine what I can make out of an ingredient or food product. Character bentos are my forte, but I also enjoy making usual bento lunches, bread, sweets and other decorative food items. If you like kawaii and and fun creations, I am sure you will enjoy my blog postings. I will continue to do my best and thanks for staying with me.
