Baby Angel Bento

I made a baby angel bento today! Baby angel is sleeping soundly with Mr Moon in this character bento creation. I am feeling a little sleepy too~~ :P

Super thrilled as it fitted perfectly into my brand new Magewappa Maru! Yay!

I have always wanted to get my hands on a round shape wooden bento box and was lucky enough to get one at Bento&Co in Kyoto during my vacation! Woo hoo~~

This magewappa bento box is two-tiered. I like how I could pack the rice ingredients in one and my side dishes in the other. I did use a disposable food cup for the grilled fish to avoid staining the bento box.

For today’s bento, here is the list of ingredients I used:

Baby Angel

  • Rice mixed with a little teriyaki sauce and shaped into the body and head
  • Seaweed for the features
  • Egg sheet for the blanket
  • Wing-shaped bento pick

  • Rice mixed with Japanese minced egg *you can use scrambled eggs or diced up omelette
  • Seaweed for the features
  • Pink kamaboko for the cheek *kamaboko is Japanese fish cake

  • Blanched carrot slices

Today’s bento was packed together with grilled saba fish, broccoli, lettuce, potato, hard boiled quail egg and strawberries.

Shirley - Bento specialist, Singapore

Hello :) I am Shirley, a bento artist/chef and blogger. I started making bento back in 2011 as getting lunch was very inconvenient at work, and in 2012 my blog, Little Miss Onigiri was born. Bento making is a passion that I am fond of, and excited about. My head is often bursting with ideas on what to make. Even when I visit the supermarkets, I often imagine what I can make out of an ingredient or food product. Character bentos are my forte, but I also enjoy making usual bento lunches, bread, sweets and other decorative food items. If you like kawaii and and fun creations, I am sure you will enjoy my blog postings. I will continue to do my best and thanks for staying with me.
