Panda Sando
800 JPY
Here are 3 new versions of our famous Panda Sando that lets you create pocket sandwiches with ease.
Presentation
What is a pocket sandwich? It's basically two pieces of sandwich bread that are cut and sealed on the edges, with filling inside. Pocket sandwiches are cute and easy to eat, especially for small children. They are very popular in Japan, and are sold at supermarkets and convenience stores (konbini).
The Panda Sando is now available in 3 different shapes for more fun with your pocket sandwiches : Square, Heart and Clover.
- The Panda Sando is basically a two-part sandwich maker/cutter.
To use, make a sandwich with two pieces of soft bread, making sure the filling is in the middle and doesn't extend all the way to the edges of the bread. Put the sandwich in between the two parts, and press hard. You'll get a sandwich that is sealed all around the edges, which can be eaten as-is or lightly toasted in a toaster oven. (You can also try toasting the bread before cutting it if you don't have a toaster oven.) You can also try folding a single slice of bread in half and sealing the edges.
- You can get a matching sandwich case in Blue, Brown or Pink here!
By the way, Panda is a pun in Japanese, since the word for bread is 'pan' - so 'pan-da' means 'it's bread'! And sando is Japanese for 'sandwich'.
There are clear illustrative step-by-step photos on the box.
Tip: To help the bread edges seal, put the sandwich bread in a plastic bag and microwave on high for a few seconds, to make it slightly moist.
