The Dodecahedron, is a fascinating 12 sided geometric object. Made of wood, it includes a single sphere inside that cannot be taken out. No trick, this 'ball' has been realized with woodman's patience and perseverance, with more than 40 years of experience in wookworking.

Amazing : this technique feat is made by a woodman from south of Kyoto. With a single piece of wood, no screw no glue, he just needed tools to make holes, to sharpen and polish.

Philosophic : Dodecahedron has no particular purpose or meaning. You can not put food in it or play with it like a toy. Some researchers found similar ones in the Roman empire collapses, but today, the meaning hypothesis are still running.

When you hold the Dodecahedron in your hand, you keep rolling it, wondering how it's made...

Beautiful : sharpen edges, inside roundness, wood feeling. This is just a gorgeous piece of art.

A bit more about the Dodecahedron :

The woodman saw a similar one 30 years ago and always wanted to make one by himself. It took years to conceiving it and to create the 3 special tools that he needed. We're lucky to have had the opportunity to meet him in Kyoto.

Often isolated, crafstmen like him often have to create more marketable items. Imagining and making a Dodedadron is like a passion. Dodecahedron is made in Kyoto. Made of Keyaki wood (often used for japanese furnitures). High : 6,5 cm (2.5").
